Assessment 2 Grading Guidance   When considered together, the report including the reflective essay, will be awarded grades as follow:   To gain a Distinction, ALL elements of the brief must be included and MOST will be addressed to at least a very good standard.  (n.b. Marks between 75-85% will similarly be awarded to work which is at least excellent. Likewise marks between 85- 100% will be awarded to work which is at least outstanding). It will include a strong critical discussion.   Distinction level work is focused and clearly organised, and it shows depth of development including strong critical discussion. The language is precise and shows syntactic variety, and ideas are clearly communicated to the reader.     2.1 level work will generally include MOST or ALL elements of the brief with MOST addressed to a good standard.  It will include some critical discussion. 2.1 level work is generally focused and contains clear development of ideas in places. The language demonstrates some syntactic complexity and the reader is able to understand what is being communicated.     2.2 level work will generally include MOST elements of the brief with MOST addressed to a satisfactory standard.  Critical discussion is generally limited.   2.2. level work is generally focused and contains some development of ideas, but the discussion may be simplistic or repetitive. The language lacks syntactic complexity and may contain occasional grammatical errors, but the reader is able to understand what is being communicated.     Pass (or 3rd) level work will generally include SOME or MOST elements of the brief.  These will be addressed to an adequate and/or inconsistent standard. Critical discussion is generally absent.   Pass level work is somewhat unfocused, underdeveloped, or rambling, but it does have some coherence. Problems with the use of language occasionally interfere with the reader’s ability to understand what is being communicated.     A Fail will generally include only SOME, FEW or even NONE of the elements of the brief.  These will be addressed to an inadequate standard.  Critical discussion is generally absent.   Failed work has at least one serious weakness. It may be unfocused, underdeveloped, or rambling. Problems with the use of language seriously interfere with the reader’s ability to understand what is being communicated.]]>
